The University of Stirling is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to the www.stir.ac.uk website. It does not cover subdomains such as site-name.stir.ac.uk as these sites should be covered by their own accessibility statement.

Content not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

There are around 300 inaccessible documents still on our website that were created before 23 September 2023. The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. However, we are aiming to phase out and replace these documents by the middle of 2025.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Pre-recorded audio

We do not plan to add an alternative format for pre-recorded audio published before 23 September 2020, because this is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

Third party content

Third party content displayed on our website that's under someone else’s control and which we have not paid for or developed is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations. Examples on stir.ac.uk include feeds from social media channels, DiscoverUni widgets on Undergraduate courses, Altmetric research publication feeds and social 'like' buttons.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was first prepared on 19 December 2019. It was last reviewed on 3 September 2024.

This website undergoes automated testing against the W3C WAI Web Content Accessibility Guidelines using the automated Siteimprove tool. This tool scans 100% of our web pages every few days, and tests against all the criteria in the guidelines which are possible to automate.

The web team uses Siteimprove to assess the website for this accessibility statement.
