Dr Eamon McCarthy
Member of academic staff from 2025
Eamon McCarthy is Senior Lecturer in Spanish and Latin American Studies. He has significant leadership experience in administrative roles related to Quality Assurance, Examining, Learning and Teaching and Postgraduate Students. Eamon is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has served as secretary of the Society for Latin American Studies and is actively involved in subject associations in Modern Languages.
His work as a researcher is driven by a preoccupation with marginalised voices and centres around questions of sexes, genders and sexualities. His publications to date cross visual and literary cultures, an approach that stems from his belief that artistic expression, whether in writing or through visual media, allows people to think through the ways in which society is organised and to question assumptions.
