International Women's Day (IWD), 8 March, has been around for over a hundred years, and is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
This forms part of Women’s History Month (WHM), an annual observance to highlight the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society.
The University of Stirling celebrates IWD and WHM through a series of activities to raise awareness about discrimination, take action to forge gender parity and celebrate women's achievement.
The theme in 2026 is ‘Give To Gain’ and the official webpage can be viewed at International Women's Day 2026.
