Are you new to Scotland this semester? Then come along to our fun and informative evening for international students!

On the night, you will be able to learn about Scottish culture and customs, meet new people, try some traditional food, and have any queries answered.

The evening will commence with a panellist presentation and audience Q&A in INTO Lecture Theatre followed by some traditional Scottish bites in UMAMI to allow you time to network. Please ensure you arrive no later than 16:00.

 

EVENT SCHEDULE

  • 15:45 -16:00: Arrival and check-in
  • 16:00 - 16:05: Welcome
  • 16:05 - 16:45: Panellist presentations (x2)
  • 16:45 - 17:00: Attendee activity
  • 17:00 - 17:40: Panellist presentations (x2)
  • 17:40 - 18:00: Q&A and close of presentations
  • 18:00:  Food served in Umami

 

SPEAKER PROFILES

Debbie Crawford

Debbie was born in Glasgow, has travelled extensively around the world and has been settled in Stirling for the past 22 years. She has a strong passion for the great outdoors and animals and enjoys trying a wide range of sporting activities. Her background includes work in hospitality and at a sports facility, including a golf driving range and golf courses.

Lorna Young

Lorna grew up in Dumbarton, a historic town on the River Clyde, known for shipbuilding and whisky distilling. Her career spans banking and finance, followed by roles at the BBC in copyright, radio production, IT training, and organisational change. She spent 14 years working in London and was also a part time lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Greig Lowery

Greig is a police officer with fourteen years’ professional service, has experience across both frontline and specialist roles, including Organised Crime investigations, Counter Terrorism operations, and the Policing of high-profile events. Their work spans major investigations and strategic initiatives, targeting serious and organised crime and public protection threats.

Ivaylo Todorov (Ivo)

Ivo is an advisor at Stirling District Citizens’ Advice Bureau with over 10 years’ experience across the corporate and nonprofit sectors. He has led projects including the EU Settlement Scheme, eVisa, and Cost of Living Support. Ivo holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and has professional experience in recruitment, social services, and immigration. His work is driven by his own experience as a foreign national living and working in the UK.
