Entry and English language requirements

If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence of your English language skills. For a complete list of the English language qualifications we accept, including where we are able to waive an English condition based on certain local qualifications, please see our .

Bahrain

Undergraduate

The University of Stirling normally requires school leavers from Bahrain to complete a Foundation Year for entry to the University. Find out more about the University of Stirling's Foundation programmes.

Additionally, the University will welcome applications from students who have completed one year of relevant university study.

Postgraduate

The University welcomes applications from students holding a minimum GPA of 2.7/4 in a Bachelor's degree from Bahrain.

Egypt

Undergraduate

The University of Stirling normally requires school leavers from Egypt to complete a Foundation Year for entry to the University. Find out more about the University of Stirling's Foundation programmes

Additionally, the University will welcome applications from students who have completed one year of relevant university study.

The University welcomes applications from students holding a minimum GPA of 2.5/4 or 65% in a Bachelor degree.

Iran

Undergraduate

The University welcomes applications from students who have completed the Pre-University Certificate with minimum score of 17/20.

Postgraduate

The University welcomes applications from students holding a minimum of 13/20 in a Bachelor's degree or Professional Doctorate.

Iraq

Undergraduate

The University of Stirling normally requires school leavers from Iraq to complete a Foundation Year for entry to the University. Find out more about the University of Stirling's Foundation programmes.

Kuwait

Undergraduate

Direct Entry to 1st Year:

We require school leavers to complete a Foundation Year for entry to the University. Find out more about our Foundation and pathway options

Students with IB, A-Levels or the American High School Diploma can be considered for direct entry. Please see individual course pages for requirements.

We also welcome applications from students who have completed one year of university study in Kuwait.

Postgraduate

We welcome applications from students holding Bachelor’s degrees with a minimum CGPA of 2.6/4.0 from a recognised university in Kuwait.

Lebanon

Undergraduate

Successful completion of Baccalaureate General with minimum grade of 15/20.

Students with IB, A-Levels or the American High School Diploma can also be considered for direct entry. Please see individual course pages for requirements.

Postgraduate

The University welcomes applications from students holding a minimum Bachelor/Licence/Maitrise: 70% or Grade C.

Libya

Undergraduate

Direct Entry to 1st Year:

We require school leavers to complete a Foundation Year for entry to the University. Find out more about our Foundation and pathway options.

We also welcome applications from students who have completed one year of university study in Libya.

Postgraduate

We welcome applications from students holding Bachelor's degrees with a minimum of 65% or CGPA of 2.5/4.0 from a recognised university in Libya.

Oman

Qatar

We welcome applications from students holding Bachelor's degrees with a minimum CGPA 2.5/4.0, 3.0/5.0, or 70%/C from a recognised university in Saudi Arabia.

Syria

Undergraduate

Successful completion of Al Shahada Al Thanawiya with grade average of 85%

Postgraduate

Minimum of 60% in bachelor's degree

United Arab Emirates

Undergraduate

High School leavers with the Tawjihiyya are not eligible for direct entry and require a Foundation Year. Find out more about our Foundation and Pathway options.

Need help improving your English? If you don’t meet our English language entry requirements, our Pre-sessional English courses can help you progress onto your degree. Delivered on campus by INTO University of Stirling, you’ll be able to access expert training and language support.

Muslim life at Stirling

We welcome Muslim students to Stirling where you can enjoy our thriving campus community and local facilities. We are also a short journey from Glasgow, home to Scotland's largest Muslim community which offers a variety of mosques, shops and restaurants.

International Society

The International Society gives students from all around the world a chance to meet each other and arrange fun events, trips and socials on campus, in Stirling or in different cities across Scotland to provide a real Scottish experience.
