Preparing to study in the UK

Studying in the UK may be very different to studying in your home country. Even students from countries whose education system is similar to the UK may notice differences.

There are some steps you can take before you arrive in the UK to help with your studies:

1. Get to know your course of study

Read any information that you have received about your course before the course starts.

Check out the induction information for your course and make sure you arrive in time to take part in these events and the Welcome events. These will help you to get orientated and prepared to begin your study at Stirling.

2. Learn more about studying in the UK and at Stirling

It is essential that you complete Stirling Essentials orientation programme to help you understand the expectations of studying at Stirling.

3. Get a student mentor

Our STEER project provides new students with a student mentor. Find out more about the STEER project.

4. Previous student experiences

Check out our student stories to learn more about what real students have to say about their Stirling experience.

5. Want to improve your English before you start your course?

You may be able to take a pre-sessional English course on campus before your course starts.

See more about our Pre-sessional English language courses.
