One of the top highlights of my course was the interactive and discussion-based teaching approach. Rather than traditional lectures, we were encouraged to participate in meaningful conversations and share our perspectives, which helped deepen our understanding. The modules were thoughtfully designed and covered a wide range of key topics related to autism.

The MSc Autism and Neurodevelopmental Conditions Research degree has given me a strong understanding of autism and practical skills to support individuals effectively. Stirling University prepared me well by offering both theoretical knowledge and real-world experience through placements. This combination has helped me feel confident to face challenges in my career and work professionally with people who need support.

Developing skills on a internship

The course included a practical placement. I did an internship at Plus Forth Valley, an organisation that works to improve the lives of children and young adults with disabilities, and their families. I supported both children and adults in different activities. I also helped out in the After School Club and took part in community events.

From this experience, I learned how to better support people with additional needs. I also improved my communication and teamwork skills.

Get involved in life at Stirling

l really enjoyed the beautiful campus environment and the quiet, lovely atmosphere in the library. My faculty held events regularly, which made student life more interesting.

If you’re thinking about studying at Stirling, my advice is to get involved as much as you can - join clubs, attend events, and use the great campus facilities. It really helps you make the most of your time there and meet new people. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it, the staff are very supportive.
