About me

Along with pursuing the Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology at Stirling, I work at Birmingham City Council as a Public Health Service Lead for Physical Activity. In my role, I apply behavioural science to public health strategy, with a particular focus on promoting Physical Activity, reducing physical inactivity and encouraging active travel across the city.

I’ve delivered training to Public Health professionals on behavioural science fundamentals, including the COM-B model, and facilitated workshops on Motivational Interviewing (MI) tailored for non-clinical settings. For example, I trained public health professionals in using MI in social media for health communications.

Alongside this, I’ve delivered teaching to MSc students at Birmingham City University on Health Psychology models to help them bridge theory and practice.

My intervention work spans both individual and population levels. In addition to supporting students and staff at Stirling with various health behaviours, I’m planning to offer one-to-one health coaching in my workplace.

My research interests centre on equity and inclusion in physical activity. I am currently conducting a systematic review exploring the effectiveness of green and blue spaces-based behaviour change interventions for increasing physical activity among Global Majority ethnic communities in the UK.

Currently, I am in the process of designing, piloting and evaluating an Active Travel intervention aimed at encouraging sustainable commuting behaviours among hybrid council staff in the post-COVID landscape.
