About me

I am a PhD Researcher specialising in beaver ecology, human-wildlife interactions and the social dimensions of species reintroduction and coexistence. My interdisciplinary PhD combines ecological and social science approaches to examine how Eurasian beavers respond to anthropogenic disturbance in Scotland, as well as investigating the wider effects of beaver-created wetlands on terrestrial vegetation and biodiversity in Finland and exploring stakeholder experiences of beaver mitigation and management.

Alongside my PhD, I tutor for numerous modules including statistics and ecological fieldwork skills. I have held several research roles and have undertaken environmental policy research for organisations including NatureScot and Rewilding Britain. I am also the Policy Representative for the British Ecological Society's Conservation Ecology Special Interest Group, where I curate regular articles about national and international policy developments relating to conservation.

Prior to commencing a PhD, I completed an MSc in Human Animal Interaction at the University of Stirling, generating a dissertation on the moral standing of wildlife and public attitudes toward wildlife conservation. I graduated in 2022 with a Distinction and the Postgraduate Prize for Exceptional Performance.

My research interests centre around wildlife conservation, human-wildlife coexistence and ecosystem restoration.
