About me
I am a Professional Doctorate student in Health Psychology at the University of Stirling, working towards HCPC registration and full membership with the Division of Health Psychology. My current placement is based at the Good Shepherd Centre in Bishopton, where I deliver group interventions and 1:1 health coaching to support young people’s psychological wellbeing and promote healthier lifestyles. Alongside my placement, I have delivered an elective to psychology undergraduates on Trauma-Informed Care and Health Outcomes for Young People Who Experienced Adversity. As part of my training, I have also worked as an assistant consultant, alongside another trainee, to develop a user-friendly tool that identifies key behaviour change concepts influencing children’s healthy weight outcomes with NHS Forth Valley. Additionally, I am planning a consultancy in Malta, delivering teaching sessions to staff in an elderly care home to improve nutrition and support resident wellbeing.
My research interests focus on understanding how psychological and social factors shape health outcomes in young people. I recently completed a systematic review examining protective factors in the relationship between adverse childhood experiences and sleep outcomes. I am also interested in exploring the role of coping in relation to skin conditions in children, as well as in the experience and management of chronic pain in paediatric populations.
