About me

My research interests lie in the field of aquatic microbiology, particularly antimicrobial resistance and the dynamic relationship between host, microbe and the aquatic environment.

I use a range of traditional and cutting edge methods to characterise the phenotypic and genotypic properties of aquatic bacterial pathogens recovered from clinical disease outbreaks in farmed fish. In addition, I also apply these methods to explore the development of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria as well as the impact of aquaculture practices on the gut microbiome in farmed fish.

I am currently working as a PDRA on an IDRC funded project developing a novel vaccine for farmed Pangasius catfish (https://www.stir.ac.uk/news/2019/06/680k-study-to-tackle-aquaculture-disease/).
